about the collective
Tucked in an old stone house in Northwest Detroit, The Glastonbury Collective is an intentional community centered around creativity, connection, and place.
Our home has been transformed into shared studios and workspaces for residents to deepen their artistic practices while living in close relationship with one another and the land. Through seasonal events like maple tree tapping and apple pressing, to hands-on workshops in bookmaking, printmaking, and ceramics, we explore where things come from and the value of making by hand.
Beyond the walls of the house, we tend a shared garden, raise chickens, and cultivate a deeper relationship with the local ecosystem. We also open our doors to the wider community by hosting shows and markets that support Detroit’s network of artists and makers. Everything we do is about grounding ourselves in the rhythms of the land, the joy of creative labor, and the power of building together.
